Life Story Work has been an interest of mine for nearly 20 years and over that time I have worked with colleagues to produce a number of resources.
We have a website called Told in South Yorkshire which provides information on Life Story Work.
We worked with funding from the Foundation of Nursing Studies and have an area on their website with resources.
We worked with a group of men from the Yemen who moved to Sheffield to work when they were young. Their collective life stories were captured by Optical Jukebox film makers in a film called Yemeni Dreams.
I have also written a Chapter in a book about the challenges and considerations of using life story work with people with dementia:
I collaborate with the Department of Human Communication Sciences at the University of Sheffield on a Life Story Work project. This brings people with dementia together with student Speech and Language Therapists and student nurses to undertake Life Story Work. This provides an opportunity for people with dementia to contribute to student education and helps to develop student’s communication skills.
If you find any of the resources helpful please drop me an email or leave a comment so I can track useage – Thanks.
